The final Scrutiny of Lent for our elect will take place at the 11:15 am Mass, this Sunday, April 4. These prayers and exorcisms, offered by the Church in the name of Christ, strengthen our elect as they approach transformation in the waters of baptism. Their sins, including most importantly, original sin, will be forgiven as they die to their old selves and rise to new life in Christ. They will be anointed and welcomed to the Eucharistic table for the first time.
Our Lenten journey aligns with theirs as we return to the Lord and pledge to leave behind any barriers to fully embracing Christ and his gospel which brings life and hope to the world.
Please support them and our baptized candidates, those who are preparing for welcome into the Church and those seeking to complete their sacraments of initiation, with your prayers.
The link to register for the next session of OCIA preparation for the sacraments is now open. This cohort begins meeting Monday, May 5, with the sacraments of initiation scheduled for Sunday, October 5, 2025. The group meets Mondays from 7 – 8:30 pm, with breaks for holidays.
The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is open to a) those seeking to be baptized, b) baptized Christians seeking full Communion with the Catholic Church and c) baptized Catholics seeking to complete their sacraments of initiation: Confirmation and/or Eucharist.
